Zion National Park And Brian Head Resort Las Vegas By Make My Holiday Trips

Zion National Park

Zion National Park Located in Utah, just across the border from Nevada, is Zion National Park. The park is famous for its towering and multi-coloured rock formations. However, similar kinds of formations can be found closer to Las Vegas at Red Rock Canyon or Valley of Fire State Park. So, for a shorter drive and cheaper entrance fees, head to those parks instead.

Camping, hiking and rock-climbing are the main past-times here, but it gets extremely packed on weekends. The main natural sights include the Emerald Pools Trail, the Weeping Rock, the Grotto and the Temple of Sinawava.

The most popular hike is the one-mile trail to the Narrows. This easy hike takes visitors to an area of the park where the canyon walls almost close-up on each other. It is not for the claustrophobic and again can get very crowded during peak times.

Brian Head Resort

Whatever the season, Utah’s Brian Head Resort offers a world of incredible mountain scenery and outdoor recreation. During winters, visitors flock here for the skiing. With Utah’s highest elevation at the base area, the snow here is deep and fluffy. The resort is really two mountains connected by a network of eight lifts, each with its own base area full of services.

With 65 ski trails and over 650 acres of terrain, there is plenty to do for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. The ski season typically runs from mid-November through early April, after which time the resort turns its focus to summer activities. Like most American ski resorts, you can take lessons from professional instructors and rent all the gear you need.

The base area has several places to eat along with a handful of shops. There is lodging right on the mountain, though most people head down the mountain to Parowan or Cedar City. Las Vegas is between three and four hours away by car, depending on weather and road conditions, but it’s a fairly easy drive along Interstate 15.
